Having spent a lifetime navigating the unpredictable nature of the ocean, Hannya channels these visceral experiences into a visual narrative that unfolds like a slice of time suspended in salt water. For Hannya, the sea is not merely a subject; it is a comforting cocoon that cradles her, allowing her to become one with the liquid form that has been her constant companion. Inspired by Turner, Constable, and Celia Paul, Hannya Ani's work harbours elements of organic abstract expressionism, like sea breezes within a thought, breathing life onto walls, and transforming spaces into contemplative sanctuaries. The scale of her work serves as a portal into the expanses of the artist's emotional world, where each painting becomes a documentation of her travels. Through brilliantly lit skies and vivid depictions of natural light, Hannya captures the ever-shifting tapestry of the environment. Her subjects range from panoramic naturescapes to intimate moments illuminated by the play of sunlight on water. Hannya’s canvases are vibrant and energetic, mirroring the dynamic forces of nature, yet there exists a profound restfulness within them. Each stroke is a carefully observed moment, a meditation on the complexities of the natural world. Her artistic pace is intentional, seeking to evoke an energised contemplative relaxation, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the soothing cadence of brushstrokes. Hannya’s paintings speak to the universality of the sea's allure and the unequivocal feelings it stirs within us. Currently held in private collections across the UK, USA, and the Caribbean, the work transcends geographical boundaries connecting viewers to the timeless, universal rhythms of nature. With each element, Hannya seeks to evoke a profound sense of presence, anchoring the observer in a moment that simultaneously echoes the past and whispers of the future. Hannya's work is more than mere reflections; they invite us to embark on a journey, where the waves of emotion and the serenity of the sea converge.
